Our client, a reputable investment company in Kelowna, BC, is seeking a full-time In-House Bookkeeper to start immediately.  This individual will report to the Controller, CEO & Coo of the company and will be responsible for assisting in maintaining the financial records by accurate recording the day-to-day financial transactions of the company and its valued clients.

Because the new hire represents our client, they must maintain a high degree of integrity and professionalism at all times.

The duties will cross four different areas and will include:


  • Checking and verifying source documents, such as invoices, receipts, computer printouts
  • Using and verifying all entries from Clio – ERP software
  • Reconciling and balancing all bank accounts
  • Assisting in maintaining internal control systems
  • Preparing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable for Controller to approve
  • Preparing cheques, payments and bank deposits
  • Assisting with audits
  • Assisting with maintaining complete filing system to support financial records
  • Weekly bookkeeping – remittances, bills, invoices, etc.
  • Printing updated bank statements and money tracking sheet

Business Planning

  • Preparing business plans and financial statements for clients
  • Entering financial information into slide deck

Family Office

  • Keeping up-to-date about the Family Office projects
  • Preparing business plans and financial statements for clients
  • Working on various financial components of projects, as needed (business plans, slide docks, etc.)
  • Recording and tracking invoices on Clio
  • Tracking Family Office billings
  • Creating Corporate Reporting packages for clients


  • Supervising and assisting Accounting Assistant with bookkeeping duties
  • Assisting all staff with bookkeeping duties, including data entry into Clio, and handling expense forms for reimbursement
  • Assisting staff with Payroll documents/forms required for the Controller and for payroll, including extended health forms for reimbursement or direct payment

The incumbent may be required to take on special projects and other duties, as assigned by the Controller, CEO, or COO.


Essential Formal Training & Education

  • Certificate in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping practices
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Working knowledge of relevant computer applications, such as Sage
  • Knowledge of data management and financial data analysis

  • Knowledge of the insurance and investment industry

NOTE:  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered


Special Working Conditions:  Working outside of normal work hours is expected as many clients are only available after normal working hours.  At times, the incumbent will be required to attend relevant conferences or seminars to stay up-to-date with education and changes in the industry.  These may occur outside of normal working hours.

Mental or Emotional Demands:  Due to the nature of the business, at times you will need to be the key contact for assisting clients in death, critical illness, or disability claims.
