Located in the sunny Okanagan, our client, Interior Roofing, is seeking an energetic and outgoing Part-time HR Coordinator to liaise with our General Manager.  If you are a “people person” who thrives on the success of your team, then APPLY TODAY!  Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • All tasks associated with recruiting for new hires:  identifying recruiting sources, developing appropriate employment ad content, and once approved by Management, posting ads to facilitate recruiting efforts
  • Developing recruiting strategy for each position required, and sourcing potential candidates using various online job boards
  • Designing and updating job descriptions for vacancies (if not already in place) with Management input
  • Receiving resumes, applications, and other employment-related inquiries; conducting phone screens; and meeting with GM once phone screens complete to discuss possible hires
  • Arranging interviews and identifying qualified candidates; verifying responses
  • Verifying references and reporting same for discussion with GM
  • Carrying out criminal record checks and D/L abstracts, as required
  • Comparing qualifications to job requirements and participating in candidate selection
  • Drafting letter of employment (or offer letter) for review by Management after wage and compensation rates have been confirmed
  • Maintaining application supplies and new hire employment packages; and updating templates/precedents, where required
  • Actively participating in new hire onboarding and orientation activities, including reviewing manual, incentive and disciplinary program, and other company policies with new hires
  • Positively promoting the company and the benefits of joining our growing team
  • Reviewing disciplinary reports; discussing with GM as per action required
  • Handling terminations and/or disciplinary measures after discussion and approval from GM
  • Gathering information from advertising promoters and discussing with Management
  • Performing recruiting tasks with a sense of urgency and aggressiveness necessary to achieve or exceed desired staffing levels on a regular and consistent basis
  • Acting as a liaison for company extended and short-term benefits via the British Columbia Construction Association
  • Accessing online site for BCCA Benefits to update and maintain employee information
  • Keeping track of employee benefit application deadlines – ensuring employees eligible receive the benefits applications and that they are returned in a timely manner for submission to BCCA
  • Explaining fully the employee benefits to new hires, and confirming access after probationary period has been served
  • Ensuring compliance with Employee Manual and Company policies


  • 1+ years of HR experience, preferred
  • Strong customer service skills while being able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • A professional demeanor with appropriate presence and tact to suitably represent company in various environments and situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills using the English language
  • Strong computer skills to include proficiency in computer applications and software, such as: MS Office, Sage 50, Ceridian, and Maximizer
  • Excellent knowledge of BC Labour and Employment standards
