Our client, Spicers Canada ULC (“Spicers”) is a leading distributor of fine paper, graphic arts, sign and display, and industrial packaging equipment and consumables headquartered in Ontario.  It operates from 15 distribution centres strategically located across Canada.

They are currently seeking to hire a full-time CSR / Warehouse Associate for their Kelowna, BC location; this position would report to the Branch Manager.

The Customer Service Representative / Warehouse Associate is responsible for coordinating and administering shipping and receiving activities in the warehouse to ensure timely and accurate flow of products for internal and external customer, as well as provides customer service to external customers.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Pick and pack product from the warehouse shelves onto pallets for internal and external customers according to the order sheets, including ensuring that all orders are checked for correct product and quantities, and reporting any discrepancies to the Lead Hand
  • Load and unload vendor and third-party trucks with product, as required
  • Prioritize your orders according to date, or expected date for urgent orders
  • Prepare paperwork, as required, such as order labeling, transfer document and racker tracker
  • Perform daily safety check of equipment for safe operation prior to using
  • Provide current pricing on product and needed signage for featured products (clearance, sale, etc.)
  • Balance the daily cash report and process OAC payments from accounting
  • Process customers’ orders via fax, email, and telephone while assisting the Account Managers
  • Keep the showroom fully stocked (pulled product from warehouse) and maintain clean and tidy shelves in the process
  • Provide excellent, friendly customer service in the showroom/front counter area, order desk, and for walk-in customers
  • Do inventory counts or stock counts to keep inventory correct, bringing any inventory corrections to the Branch Administrator
  • Arrange couriers for pick-up of customer order
  • Receive PO’s and other paperwork
  • Fill shelves with stock
  • Pick customer orders and place into pick-up area
  • Go through reports and ensure all orders are accounted for
  • Delete any Quotes on reports that are over 30 days old
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and Outside Sales team
  • Receive customer feedback and escalate/resolve any issues, as required
  • Stay up-to-date and maintain knowledge on all products, including custom orders (boxes, labels, shelving and Redeman)
  • Follow all health and safety procedures
  • Other duties, as assigned


  • Post-secondary diploma or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in sales and customer service
  • Experience operating a forklift is an asset
  • Computer experience/familiarity
  • Industry experience would be considered an asset
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent attention-to-detail, customer service, time management, and organizational skills is required
  • Great teamwork and team-building skills
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Professional demeanor under stressful situations
  • Self-directed and self-motivated
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Punctual, dependable, and reliable
