Okanagan Staffing Services is currently seeking qualified full-cycle Bookkeepers for our Okanagan clients, and we are also accepting those with accounting skills and experience for temporary assignments.  Candidates should have experience in Sage (50/100/300), QuickBooks (Pro, Premium or Enterprise) or QBL (online), but some clients are willing to train - although experience/training on other accounting software will expedite training.

We will accept candidates with 2–5 years' experience, and those with a Degree or Diploma in Bookkeeping may have more opportunities with temporary placements..

Those who are interested will be registered as temporary employees of Okanagan Staffing Services and potentially be placed into varying lengths of assignments (you get to decide if you will commit to a particular assignment or not)..  Please note that there can be opportunities for temporary positions to transition into permanent employment.

The successful candidates will provide:

  • Strong computer, organization, and time management skills
  • A high level of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Reliability (trust), professionalism, and dependability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and the ability to complete tasks independently
  • Proficiency with Computer Accounting Packages, including Sage, QuickBooks, or QBL
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Outlook/Word) would be an asset (skills-testing may be given)
  • Adaptability for temporary assignments that may not have a specific end-date but run for an undetermined length of time with the request to assist with various types of duties

    Typical responsibilities may include:
  • Maintain and reconcile all company bank, credit card, and PayPal accounts
  • Maintain Accounts Payable – wire transfers, cheques, PayPal, or other
  • Maintain Accounts Receivables – end of month review and follow up
  • Payroll Processing – may include ADP, Ceridian, or manual
  • Quarterly GST report creation and online filing
  • Year-end tax preparation and coordination with accounting firm
  • Maintain accurate files for vendors and accounts
  • Manage budgets/cash flow
  • Additional duties, as required
