Our client is looking for a Pre-Production Manager. They need a team builder who is a good communicator and motivator who can bring several complementary functions to work as one seamless unit. Reporting to the Director of Operations Western Region, the Pre-Production Manager is responsible for two main functions in his team: Estimation and Technical Design. The Pre-Production Manager must ensure efficient functioning of the team members in these 2 areas, properly balancing speed of execution and timelines with accuracy and quality of deliverables. The Pre-Production functions are supportive in nature and require a strong relationship with both the sales function and the manufacturing function. Responsibilities Included: 1. Lead and manage the estimation team: this team of technically and mechanically inclined individuals are responsible for estimating the material and labour costs of manufacturing the products within our facilities, as well as estimating installation work and sub-contracting work through a network of qualified partners. Accuracy of estimations and turn-around times are relevant KPI’s. 2. Lead and manage the technical design team: this team is responsible for creating and/or revising the technical designs used in the manufacturing plants as key instruction tools, as well as for the city permit applications. The team uses 2D design software which will be replaced with 3D design software in the short- to mid-term. Accurate technical designs that are easy-to-read and turn-around times are relevant KPI’s. 3. Effective implementation of the 3D design software program, in conjunction with other regions within the company. 4. Interaction and close collaboration with colleagues within Project Management, Sales and Manufacturing departments to ensure smooth operation of the signage programs and projects. 5. To develop and implement relevant KPI’s that monitor productivity, on time delivery and quality assurance of the various deliverables of your department. 6. Implement a scheduling function within both areas of the department. 7. Ensure that each department is staffed with qualified personnel, delegate authority along with accountability and hold department team members for meeting their functional responsibilities and in meeting their goals and objective. 8. Communicate planned and actual performance levels on the pre-production group on a regular basis in order to maintain an informed and motivated to succeed workforce. 9. Provide strong, competent and confident leadership to the pre-production group to ensure the staff is encouraged and feel free to contribute and implement ideas that will improve the business. Major Functions: Under the general guidance of the Vice President of operations as it relates to goals and objectives, the Director of Operations directs the (one of three) operations group, which includes the functions of Production, Project management, Permitting, Pre-Production (estimating and technical design), Purchasing and Field Services.
