Major Functions: Under the general guidance of the Vice President of operations as it relates to goals and objectives, the Director of Operations directs the (one of three) operations group, which includes the functions of Production, Project management, Permitting, Pre-Production (estimating and technical design), Purchasing and Field Services. In addition the Director of Operations must ensure that all activities within the various local operations offices (3 main locations) are delivering the required balance of operational excellence, product quality, responsiveness, customer service, and new product commercialization in a safe and collaborative working community. Responsibilities Included: 1. Participate in the development and more importantly the execution of the Operation Plan to meet stated goals as they relate to major initiatives: Major Pillars of Activity: • Continue to Develop New Offerings to Support Go To Market Strategy • Optimize Cost Competitiveness • Continue to Develop our National Installation and Maintenance Network • Further Enhance our Project Management Capabilities • Attain Product Quality Consistent with our Brand As a Director of Operations, you are a member of the National Operations Team who is mandated to implement this 3 year vision. The National Operations Team in led by the VP Operations and includes Three (3) Directors of Operations, as well as the Director of National Installation and Maintenance. The Team is supported by The VP Operations US Business Unit. 2. Directing the production of products through the plant manager in accordance with established processes, specifications and quality standards, delivery schedules and standard costs, so as continually to improve the productivity and safety of the operation. 3. Effective implementation and continuous improvement of a Health and Safety program that maintains enforcement of rules and procedures in order to reduce frequency and severity of accidents in the workplace. 4. Responsibility of negotiating collective bargaining agreements as needed and to ensure compliance with terms and conditions on a consistent base. 5. To develop and implement relevant KPI’s that monitor production, productivity, on time delivery, quality assurance etc. and to investigate variances then follow through with appropriate and effective corrective actions to rectify the problems. 6. To initiate and champion the continuous improvement program so it yields cost reductions that meet or exceed plan. 7. Ensure that each department is staffed with qualified personnel, delegate authority along with accountability and hold department supervisors and managers accountable for meeting their functional responsibilities and in meeting their goals and objective. 8. Keep informed of competitive activity and capability to ensure that the company keep their competitive edge through continuous and competitive improvements. 9. Communicate planned and actual performance levels on the operations group on a regular basis in order to maintain an informed and motivated to succeed workforce. 10. Provide strong, competent and confident leadership to the operations group to ensure the staff are encouraged and feel free to contribute and implement ideas that will improve the business. Direct Reports – (Manager Project Services, Plant Manager, Pre-Production Managers, Two (2) Fields Services Managers, Permitting Manager, Quality Assurance Manager) Education Required: A College diploma in engineering and or equivalent experience in a metal fabrication work and assembly environment. Previous Experience Preferred: Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience along with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Primary Responsibilities: • Oversee all accounting personnel and functions to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data • Analyze the ledger and improve departmental and product line reporting • Continually suggest cost reduction strategies • Evaluate personnel performance within department for strengths/weaknesses • Supervise two support staff • Maintain and update costs in Visual to produce accurate inventor valuation • Implement Sarbanes Oxley processes in accounting • Analyze product margins to assist in improved product pricing • Develop a strategy to hedge currency gains and losses • Develop analytical reports for monthly reporting • Communication with Easter Company and US Head Office • Full profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow responsibilities Additional Responsibilities: Assist in year end responsibilities Coordinate the annual Physical Inventory Oversee the preparation of the annual budget Oversee tax reporting; understand Canadian tax Four to five weeks travel annually to affiliated companies Primary skill requirements: Minimum 10 yrs. accounting experience with a minimum 5 years in a supervisory role Background in General and Cost Accounting Experience in manufacturing and/or interest in manufacturing processes a must Understanding of US GAAP and public company accounting reporting a plus US Sarbanes Oxley compliance Excellent computer skills required; MS Off ice, word, excel, powerpoint, outlook, visual accounting manufacturing software Educational requirements: Professional accounting designation required Strong people skills, organization, project management and decision making ability Send your resume to stacey@okanaganstaffing.com Thank you. |

Our client requires a Controller with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the goal of this position is to provide meaningful and timely information that is used to not only run, but improve the business. You would be working closely with all Plant Management and Personnel, Corporate Accounting, Treasury, Taxation, and Corporate Information Systems. Position would be begin on a temporary basis with the possibility of becoming permanent. To start the wage would be $32/hour, dependent upon experience.
